Hi guys, it's been a while since I've been here... Actually it's been a very long while!

I decided to put this in the general forum as the wanted section appears to be dead, by all means move this if you wish.

I need two Mk6 heater control panels, you know the three rings for heat, AC and distribution. The other clue is that they need to be from an AC equipped model. I've tried ebay and local breakers but when I do find something it's usually damaged, scratched or generally nasty. I'm looking for as near perfect condition as possible. The one I have now looks great until you put the light on inside, then it shows up how aged it is.

I'm in Essex but I'll pay your postage if you have something useful. They're for a project on a non-Ford car that uses these parts as standard. Thanks

You mean the controls themselves? I have a facia knocking about.

Just the panel like in this borrowed picture. It has the black fascia (with large 'B' indicating it's an AC) and the off-white rear part with lamps in.

I'm curious as to what the car you need them for is.

Sorry, I didn't realise your picture was actually of one you had. Can you take a clearer pic so I can see what it's like? Thanks

Have you opened the current pic full size? Looks pretty clear to me. I can't say the internal illumination is perfect, but I imagine it's as good as you're going to get.

If you mean by clicking on it then yes, looks like quite a scuff below the cold indications but I think I'll be hiding that with a new trim.

I'll PM you.

Anyone else have one? I need a pair to chop up so still need another, thanks.

Scuffed? I think that's rather harsh. Obviously it's not brand new, but where would you get one of those?

My quota appears to be maxed out. I can only recover that by going through and deciding what I want to delete.

I'm dying to know what these are for.  A quick google indicates Noble have used these in their build, but presumably if you have a Noble you also have the part - why would you need another one, let alone two?

(NB: during PM negotiations I posted a photo showing slight defects in the rear illumination, and robbo decided to decline.)

I don't actually have a picture of how it started but if you google the interior you'll see that the heater controls are right at the top of the central panel and the head unit is way over the left, directly in front of the passenger!

This means that it's not easy to use, can be pretty dangerous and impossible when wearing the harnesses, so they mount a remote control for the standard Sony HU to the steering column plastic.

Anyway, the issue to move the HU to the centre panel means relocating the heater controls, but the only available area is too small and then you also have the added problem of getting the cables to work within such a tight radius.

Here's my solution which is still 'in progress'...

First I had to find somewhere for the boost gauge to go and also I wanted the optional oil temp/pressure gauge. I made something like this once before for an Escort Cossie but there was a lot more room for error in that arrangement!:

That's just a standard Escort non airbag top cowling panel with a couple of cheap pods grafted on.

Next up was turning attention to the central panel itself. There is no way you can push/pull the cables so I've gone for servo control by using tiny PWM boards with 1kohm pots mounted onto the reverse side of the dials and cut the dial panel down (hence needing two!):

The AC section should be easy because the wiring reaches but could be extended for neatness easily enough if it didn't. This is the latest progress now I've cut a huge chunk out of the dash:

So there you go, that's why I need two!

Excellent!

My one would have done for one of them - the dodgy area could have been sacrificed.

Won't the servo motors need to be rather powerful compared with typical RC modelling? I have no experience in that area...

That's inspired me a bit - one of my pipe-dream plans for Owlmobile IX (the current Focus) was to rearrange the centre console, but at 160k miles now I am wondering how much effort is worthwhile.

This car has racked up an unimpressive 22k miles now! It's a '53 plate.

You can see in the last picture where the DIN cage is for the standard head unit position. Bloody useless over there. It's going to become cup holders eventually I think.
